What is BARK Regulatory Research?

BARK Regulatory Research is a research tool for financial regulation. You ask a question in plain language and get an answer built from the regulatory sources themselves, with references back to the provisions it draws on, so you can open them and check the reasoning yourself. And it is not limited to lookup: you can work through full analyses, structuring questions and the impact of amendments, with every step grounded in the sources.

Who is it for?

Regulatory, treasury, risk, finance and compliance professionals at banks, fund companies, insurers and consultancy firms. BARK Regulatory Research is built for work that has to hold up: where you need to show not just what the answer is, but where it came from.

What can I use BARK to research?

The EU financial rulebook and the supervisory material around it, including CRR, CRD, BRRD, DORA, MiCA, PSD2, MiFID II/MiFIR and EMIR, together with the technical standards layer, EBA Guidelines, the Single Rulebook Q&A, and EBA reports and opinions. Swedish national material is included, covering FFFS, Finansinspektionen's legal standpoints and FI decisions.

What is BARK Workspace?

BARK's own interface for bigger work: projects and workspaces where colleagues work together, with full history and shareable reports, and BARK Regulatory Research included. It is not open yet; you can register interest and we will email you when sign-up opens.

What is in the Full Platform?

The enterprise offering, scoped with your team: Regulatory Reporting, Inventory, Regulatory Monitoring, Modelling and Balance sheet optimisation, connected to your institution's own data. See the products page, or talk to us.

How it works

How does BARK use AI?

AI is what makes the research fast: it interprets your question, retrieves the relevant provisions, follows the references between them, and drafts an answer with source references attached.

BARK grounds that work in the underlying regulatory sources rather than relying only on a model's general knowledge. AI output can still contain errors or omissions, so the references are there for you to verify. Your professional judgement remains part of the process.

Is BARK's output legal or regulatory advice?

No. BARK is a research and analysis tool. It helps you find, read and work through regulatory material, and shows you the sources behind what it produces. The interpretation and the decision stay with you and your institution.

Can I use BARK with Claude, ChatGPT or Codex?

BARK speaks MCP, an open standard, so it runs in the assistant you already use. Claude, ChatGPT and Codex work today, and you connect them yourself in a few minutes. Microsoft Copilot works too, but your IT admin sets it up for the organisation, and it comes with the paid tiers.

The connector is read-only, so it retrieves information from BARK without modifying it. You'll need a BARK account with the connector enabled and Claude, ChatGPT or Codex; the connector guide has the steps for each.

What if the connector stops working?

Most connection problems have a short list of causes: a closed or suspended BARK account, a connector URL entered with a trailing path or a redirect in front of it, a client registration Claude needs to make again, or signing in with an address other than the one you registered.

The connector guide's troubleshooting section lists the message you see in each case and what to do about it. If none of them matches, send us a message with the exact wording of the error.

Your data

How does BARK handle my data?

Our role depends on what is being processed: for your account and our own operations we act as controller, and for the content you bring into BARK we generally act as your processor, with your institution remaining the controller.

We do not use Customer Content to train our own general-purpose AI models, and access by BARK personnel is limited to what is needed to run, support and secure the service. Read more in our Data Protection & GDPR overview and our Data Processing Agreement.

Where is my data processed?

Personal data in the BARK service, including remote support access, logs and backups, is processed and stored in Google Cloud regions within the EU/EEA.

Our current providers are listed in the Subprocessor List.

Access and cost

What does BARK cost?

Regulatory Research is free, until further notice. You need an email address, not a payment card. The Workspace is EUR 249 per seat and month when sign-up opens, and the full platform is scoped with your team.

How long is Regulatory Research free?

Until further notice. We do not promise forever, and if it changes we will tell existing accounts before it does.

What do I get with a free account?

Regulatory Research, through the connector in Claude, ChatGPT or Codex. The answer arrives in the assistant you already work in. A free account is the connector itself, not a seat in the BARK web app, and Reporting, Build, Inventory and the other platform modules are not included.

Who can create an account?

Anyone with an email address. We recommend your work email, so your colleagues join the same organisation; a private address gets an organisation of its own. Throwaway addresses are refused. One account per address.

Do you cover regulation outside Europe?

Not today. The corpus covers EU regulation and Swedish national rules. If your institution needs another jurisdiction, contact us and tell us which one.

How do I get support?

Send us a message and include your account email and the question or report you were working on. A person answers, not a bot.
