BARK primarily provides services to businesses and professional users, including organisations operating in regulated industries.

In certain situations, BARK processes personal data on behalf of a customer, for example where personal data is contained in Customer Content or institutional data provided to BARK by a customer. In those situations, the customer is generally the data controller and BARK acts as a data processor in accordance with the applicable Data Processing Agreement (“DPA”).
2. Personal Data We Collect
The personal data we process depends on how you interact with BARK.
Website enquiries, demo requests and sign-ups
When you contact BARK, request a demo or register your interest in a BARK service, we may collect:
- full name;
- work email address;
- organisation name;
- information you include in your message; and
- information relating to your enquiry or interaction with us.
Please avoid including unnecessary personal or sensitive information in free-text fields.
Accounts and use of BARK
When you or your organisation uses BARK, we may process:
- name and work email address;
- organisation and account information;
- authentication and account identifiers;
- user activity and service usage information;
- regulatory research questions and prompts;
- chat or session information;
- generated answers, reports and other outputs;
- feedback and support information; and
- technical, diagnostic, security and error information.
Depending on the BARK service being used, Customer Content may also contain information provided by your organisation. Customers are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights and lawful basis to provide such information to BARK.
Information collected automatically
When you use our website or services, we may collect certain technical information, such as:
- browser and device information;
- IP address and technical identifiers;
- timestamps and activity information;
- service performance and diagnostic information; and
- information necessary to detect errors, misuse or security incidents.
Analytics information from the BARK website is collected only where the relevant analytics cookies have been accepted.

Where BARK acts as a data processor on behalf of a customer, the customer is responsible for determining the appropriate legal basis for the underlying processing of personal data.
5. Customer Content, AI and Product Improvement
BARK uses artificial intelligence and other computational technologies to provide functionality such as regulatory research, analysis, explanations and report generation.
Customer Content may be processed by BARK and selected technology providers where necessary to provide the requested functionality.
BARK does not use Customer Content to train its own general-purpose AI models.
BARK may use technical and operational Usage Data, voluntarily provided Feedback and aggregated or de-identified information to understand service performance, maintain and secure the Service and improve BARK products and functionality.
Where Customer Content needs to be accessed by authorised BARK personnel for support, troubleshooting, service operation, security or incident investigation, such access should be limited to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
Where personal data contained in Customer Content is processed by BARK on behalf of a customer, that processing is governed by the applicable DPA.
6. Service Providers and Other Recipients
BARK uses selected service providers to operate and deliver its website and products.
These may include providers of:
- cloud infrastructure and hosting;
- artificial intelligence and machine-learning services;
- databases and data-processing infrastructure;
- authentication and identity services;
- analytics;
- monitoring and logging;
- communications and workflow services;
- payment and billing services; and
- professional services where necessary.
These providers may process personal data only to the extent relevant to the services they provide to BARK and subject to applicable contractual and data-protection requirements.
BARK may also disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order or competent authority, or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Where BARK uses subprocessors to process personal data on behalf of a customer, additional information may be provided through the applicable DPA or related subprocessor information.
7. External Platforms and Integrations
BARK may be accessed through or integrated with external platforms, APIs, plugins or AI environments.
Where an external platform is independently selected or controlled by you or your organisation, that provider may process information under its own privacy terms and policies.
For example, information sent from BARK to an external AI interface selected by the customer may subsequently be processed by that provider independently of BARK.
Customers should review the privacy and data-handling terms applicable to external services they choose to connect to or use with BARK.
This is separate from technology providers selected by BARK as part of operating the BARK Service.
8. International Data Transfers
BARK is established in Sweden and primarily serves customers within Europe and the Nordic region.
We seek to use European hosting and processing locations where appropriate for our services.
However, some service providers or technical functions may involve processing of personal data outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”).
Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA and the receiving country is not recognised as providing an adequate level of data protection, BARK uses appropriate safeguards as required by applicable data-protection law, such as applicable contractual safeguards.
More specific data-location or transfer arrangements may apply under a customer's agreement or DPA.
9. Data Retention
BARK retains personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or processed, including to provide the Service, maintain appropriate business and security records, comply with legal or regulatory requirements and establish or defend legal claims.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the relevant BARK service, the customer relationship and applicable legal requirements.
When determining retention periods, BARK considers factors such as:
- the purpose of the processing;
- the duration of the customer or user relationship;
- operational and security requirements;
- contractual obligations;
- applicable legal requirements; and
- whether information is required to establish or defend legal claims.
Where BARK processes personal data on behalf of a customer, retention and deletion may also be governed by the applicable DPA or customer agreement.
Data may remain temporarily in backups or other protected recovery systems after deletion from active systems where technically necessary, subject to applicable retention and security controls.
10. Marketing Communications
BARK may use professional contact information to send relevant communications about BARK products, services, developments, events or related business content where permitted by applicable law.
Operational or service-related communications, such as account, security, contractual or important service notices, are separate from marketing communications.
Where applicable, marketing communications will provide a way to unsubscribe or opt out.

11. Cookies and Website Analytics
The BARK website uses cookies and similar technologies for necessary website functionality and, where accepted, analytics.
Analytics cookies are not activated until the visitor has made the relevant choice through BARK's cookie banner.
BARK currently uses Google Analytics to understand website usage where analytics cookies have been accepted.

No technology or service can guarantee absolute security, and BARK continuously develops and reviews its technical and organisational safeguards as the Service evolves.

Where BARK processes personal data solely on behalf of one of our customers, requests concerning that data should generally be directed to the relevant customer as data controller. BARK will assist customers with such requests as required under applicable data-protection arrangements.
14. Swedish Supervisory Authority
As BARK is established in Sweden, you may contact or lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, “IMY”).
You may also have the right to contact another competent data-protection authority depending on where you are located.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
BARK is a developing company and our products, technology and data-processing activities may change as the Service evolves.
We may therefore update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Material changes will be communicated where appropriate, and the current version and last-updated date will be made available on the BARK website.
