(31)The transitional period during which pension scheme arrangements were exempted from the clearing obligation expired on 16 August 2018. For reasons of legal certainty, and to avoid any discontinuity, it is necessary to retroactively apply the extension of that transitional period to OTC derivative contracts entered into by pension scheme arrangements from 17 August 2018 until 16 June 2019.
