(22)In order to limit the need for the production of virgin sulphur hexafluoride (SF 6 ), the capacity for reclamation of SF 6 from existing equipment should be increased. Without endangering the safe functioning of the electrical grids and power plants, the use of virgin SF 6 in electrical switchgear should be avoided where it is technically feasible to use reclaimed or recycled SF 6 and it is available.
