(3)Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council 6 was adopted to reverse the increase in fluorinated greenhouse gas emissions. As concluded in an evaluation prepared by the Commission, Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 has led to a year-on-year decrease of fluorinated greenhouse gas emissions. The supply of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) has declined by 37 % in metric tonnes and by 47 % in terms of tonnes of CO 2 equivalent from 2015 until 2019. There has also been a clear shift to the use of alternatives with a lower global warming potential, including natural alternatives (for example, air, CO 2 , ammonia, hydrocarbons and water), in many types of equipment that traditionally used fluorinated greenhouse gases.
